Hardware store reports: margin, stock value, slow movers and money owed
Hardware store reports should answer three questions: what makes money, what sits on the shelf, and who owes you. Hardware Store POS reports profit and loss, stock and stock value by location, low stock, trending products, item sales, customer and supplier balances, register totals and tax.
!The problem
What owners actually want to know
- 1Which categories carry the margin, and which are traffic builders at thin margin.
- 2How much cash is sitting in items that have not sold in months.
- 3Which contractors are overdue and by how much.
- 4Whether each register balanced at close.

- Which reports are included?
- Profit and loss, purchase and sale, tax, supplier and customer, customer groups, stock, stock adjustment, trending products, items, product purchase and sell reports, expenses, register and sales representative reports, among others.
- Can I see stock value by location?
- Yes. The stock report shows quantities and value per item, filterable by location, category and brand.
- How do I find slow-moving or dead stock?
- Compare the stock report with item sales for a period: items with stock on hand and no sales are your slow movers. The test rig above shows the idea.
- Can I see what each contractor owes?

- Is there a tax report for VAT or sales tax returns?
- Yes. The tax report lists input and output tax for the period to support your return. Your accountant still files it.
- Can I export reports to Excel?
- Yes. Report tables export to CSV/Excel and PDF, or print.
- Can managers see reports without seeing costs?
- Roles and permissions control who can see purchase prices and profit.
- Is there an accounting module?
- An accounting add-on module is available for ledgers and financial statements; ask on a demo whether it fits your accountant's process.
